VYNEHILL DAHLIAS - RETURN & REFUND POLICY
IMPORTANT: LIVING PLANT MATERIAL
Dahlia tubers are living plant material. Their viability depends on proper handling, storage, planting, and growing conditions - many of which are outside our control once they leave our farm.
We guarantee that tubers leave our farm healthy, with an eye, are properly labeled, and carefully packaged.
REFUND OR REPLACEMENT
We will refund or replace tubers if:
• Tubers arrive have issues that make them unviable that are unrelated to shipping like arriving broken (photos required within 48 hours of delivery)
• Wrong variety was shipped (photo of tuber and label required)
• Items missing from your order
• Package was damaged resulting in items damaged in transit due to carrier mishandling.
How to claim: Email photos within 48 hours of delivery showing the issue. We'll send a replacement or issue a refund at our discretion.
NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REFUND OR REPLACEMENT
No refunds or replacements for:
• Tubers that fail to sprout or grow after storage
• Tubers damaged by freezing or heat exposure after delivery due to extended time in mailbox/porch
• Tubers stored improperly by buyer before planting
• Buyer's remorse or change of mind
• Late planting by buyer resulting in poor growth
• Flowers or Tubers that "don't look like the photo" but are the same variety - bloom colors can vary by soil pH, sun exposure, and growing conditions
• Natural variation in tuber size or shape (some tubers are prettier than others but all grow gorgeous plants!) - we sell by viable tuber, not by weight or size
• Issues reported more than 48 hours after delivery without valid reason for delay
• Events like extreme weather, natural disasters, postal delays beyond our control
INSPECTION WINDOW
You have 48 hours from delivery to inspect tubers and report issues with photos. After 48 hours, we assume tubers were received in good condition.
If you cannot inspect immediately upon delivery, arrange to have someone bring in your package. Tubers left in mailboxes/porches are buyer's responsibility.
REFUND PROCESS
Approved refunds are issued to original payment method within 5-7 business days. Whenever possible, a replacement will be sent. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
REPLACEMENT PROCESS
If we approve a replacement, we'll ship a new tuber of the same variety. Depending upon timing and availability, it may need to be during the end of or beginning of the next growing season.
NO RETURNS ACCEPTED
We do not accept physical returns of tubers. All sales are final unless we approve a refund based on the criteria above.
DAMAGED IN SHIPPING (CARRIER FAULT)
If your package arrives visibly crushed or damaged:
• Photograph all damage immediately (box, packing materials, tubers) before unpacking
• Contact us within 24-48 hours with photos
• We'll file a claim with USPS and replace your order
WEATHER-RELATED DAMAGE
We ship during weather windows that should protect your tubers, but we cannot guarantee against unexpected weather events during transit.
If you order during extreme weather season (freezing winters, hot summers) for your region, you assume this risk. We will not refund orders damaged by weather events we warned about or that were foreseeable for your area.
LOST PACKAGES
If USPS tracking shows "delivered" but you never received the package:
• Contact your local post office immediately
• Check with neighbors and building management
• File a claim with USPS
• Contact us after you've taken these steps
We cannot refund or replace packages USPS confirms as delivered. This is between you and USPS.
If tracking shows package is lost in transit (not marked delivered), contact us and we'll work with USPS to file a claim and get you a replacement.
GROWING EXPECTATIONS
We are selling tubers - not guaranteed blooms. Growing dahlias requires:
• Proper planting depth and timing for your zone
• Adequate water, sun, and soil quality
• Protection from pests and diseases
• Appropriate climate conditions
We're happy to provide growing advice, but we cannot refund tubers that don't perform due to growing conditions.
If this is your first time growing dahlias, we recommend starting with a small order to learn what works in your garden before investing in a large purchase.

Contact us before ordering if you have concerns. We want you to be confident in your purchase, but we also need to be clear about what we can and cannot guarantee when selling living plants.
At Vynehill, we're a small-scale suburban grower and stand behind our quality - but we can't control what happens after tubers leave our hands.
